Dean Baker, Director for the Center for Economic and Policy Research, and contributor to Mandate for Change, discusses a potential second wave of foreclosures with the USA Today.

“There’s a huge supply out there,” says Dean Baker, co-director of the Center for Economic and Policy Research in Washington, D.C. “The foreclosure process can take a long time. When it comes to (the housing recovery), we’re not home free.”

Fight in Congress Looms on Tax Break for Home Buyers

Dean Baker, director for the Center for Economic and Policy Research, and contributing author to Mandate for Change discusses the tax break for home buyers with the New York Times.

Dean Baker of the Center for Economic and Policy Research called the credit “a questionable redistributive policy” from renters to home buyers, but said that he used it himself when he bought a house.

He wrote on his blog: “Thank you very much, suckers!”

Baby Boomers ‘Under Water’

Co-director of the Center for Economic and Policy Research and contributing author to Mandate for Change, Dean Baker, was quoted in The New York Times in an article discussing the problems facing many baby boomer homeowners.

A recent report suggests that the housing-market slump is hitting baby boomers particularly hard: many middle-aged homeowners had been so seduced by the rising prices of years past that they failed to save for retirement and may now owe more than their homes are worth.
