When Barack Obama was elected president, many climate activists were thrilled. With the concentration of carbon dioxide in the Earth’s atmosphere reaching dangerous levels, and Democrats controlling the House and Senate, hopes couldn’t have been higher among climate campaigners that Obama would act swiftly to make energy and climate change one of his top priorities.

Bomb Plants Could Shift to Control of Pentagon

Mandate Author, Robert Alvarez is quoted in a New York Times article discussing the Obama administration’s shifts in nuclear weapons management.

The Obama administration is considering whether to shift the management of nuclear weapons production to the Pentagon from the Energy Department, a step that would end more than 60 years of civilian control over nuclear bomb manufacture.

The goal would be to better focus the Energy Department on energy research, production and conservation, central priorities of the new administration.
